More snow means more snow pictures yeah! And soft white fluffy stuff to swoosh around on. Maybe this afternoon taking a brake to check the mail and walk the dog. She loves to get out Ive never seen a dog with Cabin Fever but boy this Winter she sure has had a bad case. I can ask her “Do you have cabin fever?” Than she barks wildly which is actually pretty funny because normaly she’s not a barker. Than I ask her “do you want to go for a ride in the car or a walk?” And again she goes nuts. Pretty funny. I can almost hear her saying Yes Yes get me out of the house I’m going nuts I don’t care where we go just take me along! I think basically if you say You wanna, that’s her sign for ,Fun and the answer is always YES! So I’ll pop off a few shots on the digee camera while I get Tip the couch and get  the dog and moi out of the house for a little cross country ski fun. Let’s see if I can talk Navar into it too? Hopefully I’ll post pictures later.

February seems to be a good month for comfort food . The Fall and Winter there has been so much  news of the continuing spiral down of the economy, what a downer! Who new that we would be facing such gruesome financial changes. Well I guess that’s how life is ,always a Season for something including comfort food. Ti’s the Season, if you have any good comfort food recipe’s I’d love to try them out! I guess exercise will be a good topic to visit say March after comfort food February or we could stretch it out till let say Summer? Just kidding, we are actually trying to tip the couch some . I’m sure you’ve heard of cow tipping, now a popular sport is couch tipping. Spilling out little pudgy body’s , getting people away from the TV I call it the babysitter. Don’t get me wrong I grew up with the magical boob tube box. Just reassessing it’s place in my life. Maybe.   Lately the fun has been moon light skiing what a blast. Hopefully more soft fluffy white flakes to swoosh around in before Spring arrives. The Richard Simon’s video is an OK back  up ,not better than a new Wii  tho refer to early comment about tanking economy maybe a Wii purchase in the up turn. By the way when is the up turn just trying to make travel plans on the calender. . Yikes. Sorry to bring up the Economy. Hopefully my humor won’t offend anyone. I guess sometimes when life gets tough my humor comes out, It may be a coping mechanism.

Pie Recipe as Promised

I found this Pie recipe it was a contest winner for the City Market store in Colorado. It was a grand prize winner by Patricia Allen of Palisade, Colorado.

CRUMB TOPPED SOUR CREAM PEACH PIE (you can use yellow plums as well or your favorite fruit.)

3 Cups Fresh Peaches                         2 Eggs

3/4 Cup Sugar                                      1/2 tsp. vanilla

2 Tbls Flour                                            1/8 tsp. Salt

1 Cup Sour cream

CRUMB TOPPING                                9″PASTRY

1/3 Cup sugar                                           l 1/2 Cup flour

l tsp cinnamon                                          1/2 tsp salt

1/3 Cup flour                                              1/2 Cup Mandeca lard

1/4 Cup butter                                            4 to 5 Tblsp cold water.

1/2 Cup finely chopped pecans

(If you would like to make crust by hand you can with the pastry recipe above or skip a step which I do from time to time and get the Pillsbury Roll crust in a red box in the refrigerator section may be by the butter.)

For Pastry, cut lard into flour. Add remaining dry ingredients. Slowly add cold water. Work and form into pie shell.

Place peaches in shell. Mix sugar, flour, sour cream, eggs, vanilla and salt together. Pour over peaches. Bake at 450′ for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350′ and bake 30 minutes longer. Mix topping and sprinkle over the top of pie. Bake 20 minutes at 325′.

Nothing Pie can’t make better or at least almost nothing. Enjoy. Let me know if you try this pie out and how you like it. I love this pie. I may post other pie recipes or not. Hard tellin .

Spring Fever

The last two days have been nothing short of amazing! Warm spring like weather 44′ yesterday. We went for a long drive around the lake so much fun. The point of Winter, I gather, is to drive you to the point of, well weather: cold, snow and ice frustration, and then Volia!  A little taste of Spring to make your heart sing. It’s just a tease of spring, there are still at least a couple of months of Winter. But that’s OK a little respite sure is nice.

Foggy days

The green grass on top of our blog is nice to see especially on a day like today . The schools have been closed down due to freezing rain and icy roads. Sitting here looking outside at the drizzling rain is a bit uninspiring at least for the moment. Yesterday was nice, we drove to town a took a couple of picture on the way home. It’s been foggy for days it makes for some interesting photos.

Another sunny day, two in a row we’re on a roll. How nice, so much gray lately, it’s so nice when the sun comes out it hard not to be in a good mood. Happy dance for all, funny when it’s cloudy and gray day after day you can tell the mood in town is low and than the sun comes out it’s smiles and jokes it’s a noticeable. Hopefully I can talk Navar in to posting the picture he took this morning it was water off the dogs dish that froze it looks like a snow flake it is very cool. It also reminds me of stained glass. ice-geometry
